Fort Boonesborough State Park in conjunction with the Kentucky Humanities Council and the Fort Boonesborough Foundation is having a special School Day at the Fort on Friday, October 16, 2009 as part of our season long celebration of Daniel Boone’s 275th Birthday Celebration.
The fort will open at 9 am and we encourage you to arrive as early as possible. We will have a full staff that day as well as many reenactors set up in their own camps. Additionally, there will be first person interpretation and special presentations on Daniel Boone and life on the frontier during Boone’s years in Kentucky.
Scott New will be at the Fort portraying Boone throughout the season and also on this special school day. Scott is a veteran reenactor who also portrays Daniel Boone for the Kentucky Humanities Council in their Kentucky Chautauqua programs. Scott brings over 20 years of professional acting experience as well as over 10 Historical Film Credits. In three of those films he portrays Daniel Boone, including in “Boonesborough, Story of a Settlement”, which is the orientation film at Fort Boonesborough State Park. Scott has most recently been working at Wilderness Road State Park in Virginia where he was the Historical Program Coordinator. Before that Scott was at Colonial Williamsburg and has also worked previously at Fort Boonesborough State Park.
You will want to visit our new museum at the Fort, which has actual 18th century artifacts and Boone artifacts.
