September 20-23, 2013 saw another great “Siege Weekend”. School children arrived aon Friday to visit the fort and on Friday evening The Fort Boonesborough Foundation hosted a sandwich supper for arriving re-enactors and employees of the state park.
Although Saturday began with some rain the skies cleared and by noon visitors were entering the gates for the 2:00 pm re-enactment of The Great Siege of Fort Boonesborough. Park Director Rob Minerich welcomed the crowd and Foundation member Barb Disney began the story of how Shawnee Chief Blackfish arrived in Kentucky and tried to parley with his adopted son - Daniel Boone. The talks broke off and the Indians attacked the fort in a siege that lasted almost 11 days.
