 The 1778 Siege of Fort Boonesborough

The Siege ReEanctment for 2011 took place on September 23-25. On Friday nearly 1,000 school children visited the fort. They were treated to a small scale version of the battle re-enactment. The Painted Stone Settlers of Shelbyville, KY were also on hand with a 18th century cannon demonstration.

On Sunday after the battle re-enactment The Larry Wilcher Gun Raffle - the first part of the Re-enactor Appreciation Prizes was awarded. The rifle is purchased by the Fort Boonesborough Foundation and was named in honor of long time re-enactor and fort regular Larry Wilcher. This year’s winner was Tim Dvorak. He is pictured below with Foundation Member Elizabeth Chalfant and Fort Manager Bill Farmer.
